"I am transgender, just one form of diversity within the LGBTQ+ community, and there are so many more. People's attitudes towards this diversity is always changing, and it has come so far compared to when I was in primary school, only 12 years ago and hopefully is moving in the right direction.
Young adults today are so much more likely than ever to relate to a form of bullying from diverting from the norms of society, whether that be as little as being a girl wanting to play football or wrestle, or being a tomboy, as presented through this new video. There are so many forms of individuality around and as a band we want to promote that individuality is important and makes you more unique and special, not an outcast."

"In our complex society, being a postmodernist band not only makes us unique, but allows us to be relatable to people who don't conform to the generalisations of gender in our modern society. I am a bisexual, Willow is transgender and Zain is gay and we have all experienced a feeling of isolation growing up when nobody around you feels the same way. It can be difficult and we want to present a band that accepts everyone, whether you're experiencing it yourself or you're an ally, we welcome you to share your stories and experiences. "I guess the hardest part of this was to admit to others that I wasn't the same as everyone else. But once I had admitted it to myself, it became natural for me to express myself in this way. People have told me I'm weird or strange. Heck! I hear it all the time! But today that just spurs me onto being unique and who I want to be. I feel honoured to make these people feel comforted by my experiences, that really all I want!"

My MUSICAL FAMILY...
Hi guys! You may know me as the lead singer of the 1983, but really I'm just Reuben! I want to introduce you to my musical family, Willow and Zain. They really are amazing! and altogether, we are the 1983.

HOW WE GOT STARTED...
We all started as solo artists, with similar aesthetics and ideas. Of course we were competitive, we all wanted to be known for our modern ideologies. But hey, we decided one day that are forces would be best together! And I'm glad we did! We are a musical trio now and no-one can split us up.
ZAIN
OUR IDEOLOGY...
Our ideology is, as we present it, postmodern. We want to be liked and appreciated by everyone, obviously. But we feel that in a modern society, people who don't conform to stereotypical generalisations are partially ignored, as each of our musical trio were. We want to promote this, creating more inclusion with everyone and their own identities! Be who you are comfortable being and if people don't like that then, let them hate. It's what makes us stronger!
